.... a prop bet: Will anyone come within 100 units of Bennett? - Yes +5000. (The 'No' is not a betting option.) I decided the easiest way to do this was to set up a new blog and allow everyone in the contest to post their plays on it. No pictures, no rants, none of my trademark "Jokes" in this blog. Just the picks of impossibly sharp guys. And me.
And Scott.
So, all you need to do is email me and I'll put you on the list of people that can post on this blog. Then you go to www.blogspot.com and sign up for a Blogger account. (A trip to Florida is recommended for that but not mandatory.) Once you have your Blogger account, you can post your picks.
Right now I'm thinking that we all put up $100 with it all going to the winner at the end of the season. The one caveat being that whoever finishes dead last has to give Chris, er, I mean the winner, $200. And be subjected to the inevitable mocking. I'd also like to arrange a monthly pool wherein whoever is up the most "Units" receives $20 from each competitor at the end of each calendar month. Side bets are also encouraged of course, although I wouldn't recommend making one with Bennett if you plan on having air conditioning this summer.
(Don't roll your eyes, Jeff. I realize this isn't a lot of money for certain people. This is supposed to be for fun. Remember fun? Yeah, some of us still do stuff just because it's fun.)
Here are some other rules:
* Regardless of how much you are actually betting on the game(s), for contest purposes each play will be graded as 1 unit.
* If you are listing pitchers, you need to specify their names. If you don't write in the pitcher names, I'll just assume that you aren't LPing.
* You don't have to pick every day. Scott.... I'm just saying you don't have to.
* There is nothing in the rulebook that says you have to bet a game in every way possible just because you are attending it in person. Again.... Scott.
* Parlays are encouraged. And will most likely be mocked.
Here's the part where people play correlated parlays to prove their worth. And probably lose in the long run. Go for it.
* If you don't believe that Chris, er, I mean, one of the other contestants actually got a number that ridiculously sharp, you can challenge him. If he proves that he did in fact get that number, you lose 2 units. If he cannot prove that the number was actually available and that he was the scumbag who moved it, he loses 10 units.
* You get 3 of these challenges before the All-Star break and 3 after the Break. However, if you challenge and win it does not count against your 3 challenges.
* Each person is responsible for keeping their own records but don't even bother trying to cheat. Chris will be in the contest and he is so good at math that he'll know just by looking if you are lying.
* If you are found to be "Exaggerating" your record more than once, you're out.
* Only post picks and records in this blog. Keep all mocking, ranting, whining, racism, etc... in your personal blogs, MySpace, Facebook, or Twitter pages.
Questions? Comments?
I really don't care what you have to say but I'll pretend to listen.
